Employee Benefits
The Human Resources Department administers a wide range of benefits for full-time employees, including:
- The City provides Medical/Dental insurance for full-time employees and their dependents. The City pays 100% of the premium for single coverage and 50% of the dependent premium. Employee’s monthly premium cost would be based on level of benefits requested.
- Dental Insurance - Dental insurance is provided for all employees at no cost to the employee. Dependent coverage is optional. The City will pay 50% of the dependent premium. Employee’s monthly premium cost would be based on level of benefits requested.
- Life Insurance - Life insurance is offered at no cost to each employee in an amount equal to the employee’s annual salary.
- Retirement – Retirement Benefits are provided through the Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS) and Social Security. Employees may voluntarily participate in the ICMA-RC 457 plan.
- Holidays - New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Friday following Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
- Vacation Leave - Employees accrue eighty hours (80) of vacation leave following one year of employment. After one year, the employee will accrue nine (9) hours vacation leave per month. Other schedules exist.
- Sick Leave - Employees accrue six (6) hours of sick leave per month.
