Adair County Veterans Memorial Plaza

1201 North Baltimore

This park is located off Baltimore Street / Business US Highway 63. In 2000, the City of Kirksville donated a small portion of Rotary Park to the Adair County Veterans Commission for the construction of a Veterans Memorial wall to memorialize veterans of the region from all conflicts. Granite tablets were erected, forming a near semi-circle around an obelisk. The plaza also features a W.W. I German Howitzer and a Civil War Era cannon.

Brashear Park

1415 East Normal Street

Brashear Park is located on S. Cottage Grove Avenue just east of Baltimore Street / Business US Highway 63. This park is just minutes from the campuses of the Kirksville R-III School District and Truman State University.

Brashear Park features a 15’ X 35’ covered picnic shelter with 6 tables, electricity, and a large barbecue grill. This park has accessible restrooms. The basketball court is great for a pick-up game of basketball, and also includes pickleball lines. The playground has two structures, one designed for preschoolers, and another for children 5 and older, as well as swing sets, and a traditional merry-go-round. Brashear Park also features a beautiful gazebo, and a seasonal wading pool.

Forest Lake

Located two miles west of Kirksville in Thousand Hills State Park, this 573 acre lake provides the city both with drinking water and recreational opportunities. The lake is used for fishing, swimming, and both motorized and non-motorized recreational boating. Some popular recreational features at Forest Lake are the four floating swim docks located in the Gill Creek and Michigan arms of the lake.

Hazel Creek Lake

Hungry Hollow Road - Southern Entrance
Buck Creek Road / Peaceful Front Road - Northern Entrance

This park is located 3.2 miles north of Kirksville on US Highway 63.There are two separate access points to Hazel Creek Lake (northern and southern) that are each approximately 1.5 miles west of US Highway 63 on Hungry Hollow Road (southern) and Buck Creek Road (northern).   Each access point offers a gravel parking lot, boat ramp, picnic area, and a restroom facility. This park includes a 530 acres of water and is popular with anglers and waterfowl hunters. The northern access point also features an accessible fishing dock.  The park is owned by the City of Kirksville as a primary water supply and is operated in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Jaycee Park

1115 North Osteopathy Street

This park is located on North Osteopathy Street, on the western edge of Kirksville.

Jaycee Park features a 20‘ X 60’ covered picnic shelter with 7 tables, electricity, and a barbecue grill. The park also has restrooms and a half-court basketball court. The playground has a structure designed for preschoolers, and a separate structure for children age 5 and older. Jaycee Park also features a regulation softball field and a seasonal wading pool.

McKinney Bark Park

2524 South Franklin Street

Formally a roadside park, this park is located on South Franklin Street and is the City’s only dedicated Dog Park.

McKinney Bark Park was named after local resident Rich McKinney, who was an early advocate for constructing a dog park in the City. The park offers both a small and large dog off-leash area, along with dog watering bowls, waste stations, and picnic tables.

Memorial Park

404 East Cottonwood Street

Memorial Park is located on East Cottonwood Street five blocks west of Baltimore Street / Business US Highway 63. This park is just minutes northeast of the Central Business District / Downtown.

Memorial Park has a 14’ X 33’ covered picnic shelter with 2 tables, electricity, and barbecue grill. The basketball court is great for a pick-up game of basketball, and also includes pickleball lines. The playground includes structures appropriate for children up to 12 years old, and traditional swing sets. The park features restrooms, as well as sidewalks that create a 0.15 mile walking path around the park.

Memorial Park was named for and dedicated to the veterans of foreign wars. The obelisk, World War I German Howitzer, and Civil War Era cannon, formerly on the southern half of the park, are now located at the Adair County Veterans Memorial Plaza adjacent to Rotary Park.

North Park Complex

2710 Novinger Street

This 30 acre sports complex and park is located at Charles Street and Novinger Street just east of Baltimore Street / Business US Highway 63 in northern Kirksville.

The sports complex features two lighted 300’ softball fields, a lighted regulation baseball field, two additional 300’ softball fields without lights, a 270’ softball field, and two pee-wee fields. The complex has a paved parking lot that will accommodate over 350 vehicles, and all fields have sidewalks leading from the parking lot to the backstop to provide accessibility for everyone to enjoy activities.

Additionally, North Park features a 20’ X 50’ covered picnic shelter with 4 tables, electricity, a centrally located playground, concession stand, and new accessible restrooms.

Patryla Park / Spur Pond

1202 Decker Road - Patryla Park

This park is located on Decker Road west of North Osteopathy Street. This park is just north of Northeast Regional Medical Center and A.T. Still University.

Patryla Park has a 10’ X 20’ covered picnic shelter with 2 tables, electricity, and restrooms. The park features two tennis courts that are also lined for pickleball, and a regulation sized softball field with lights. The Kirksville Labyrinth Center is located on the southern portion of Patryla Park on top of a hill that overlooks Spur Pond.

A large portion of this park is wooded, and the wooded area borders Spur Pond, which is stocked with trout annually. Amenities at Spur Pond include a accessible parking lot and fishing dock.

PC Mills Park

1506 South Baird Street

PC Mills Park is located on Hamilton Street just west of South Osteopathy Street in the southwest part of Kirksville.

This park has a 20’ X 40’ covered picnic shelter with 3 tables, electricity, and a barbecue grill. PC Mills Park also has restrooms, and a half-court basketball court. The playground has two structure, one designed for preschoolers, and another for children 5 and older, as well as swing sets.  The park also features a seasonal wading pool, and a large open field for multipurpose use.

  


Rotary Park

801 East Mill Street

Originally named Swimming Pool Park, Rotary Park is located along Baltimore Street / Business US Highway 63 just north of Cottonwood Street and the Adair County Public Library, along East Mill Street.

Rotary Park has three covered picnic shelters with electricity and barbecue grills. The Lower Shelter is 20’ X 48’ and has 8 tables, the Middle Shelter is 20’ X 38’ and has 5 tables, and the East Shelter is 20’ X 50’ and has 6 tables. Rotary Park also has restrooms, a popular snow sledding area, and a playground structure. This park is also home to the Kirksville Aquatic Center and Kirksville Parks and Recreation Offices, the Ray Klinginsmith Amphitheatre, and a 9 hole disc golf course.



FLATS Trailhead & Rotary Nature Playscape

This park features a covered picnic shelter, 2 picnic tables, electrical outlets, and several unique outdoor play fixtures. The trail offers ADA accessibility and is suitable for walking, jogging, or biking.



Detweiler Park

411 E. McPherson Street

Dedicated in 2023, this park stands at the site of the old Kirksville High School, and is named after former Mayor Richard Detweiler. The park features concrete walkways and a gazebo constructed from recycled materials.
